In 1997 she began acting at the age of 13. [2] After taking several classes as well as doing background work on Canadian series like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy and Harriet the Spy, she was offered her first role as a speaker in the Canadian children's horror anthology series Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, both series that aired in 1997 on YTV. Vandervoort's television career began with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In the following season, she was cast in the role as Clark Kent's Kryptonian cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who was later to become Supergirl) and appeared in The CW serial-drama program Smallville. Season 7, she was a regular in the series. The episode she appeared on was "Bloodline" in the eighth season's episode. 3. In the tenth season and final episode of Smallville the actress returned for two more episodes. 4 After The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort filmed the sequel of the film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman is her third independent project. Also, she starred with Canadians Michael Ironside, who appeared in two episodes of the V miniseries and also the regular 1984 V series.
