Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only superstar to have crossed from country into the mainstream and then to be a global pop culture icon. Swift shed her roots in the country genre like a second skin and showed that she was the most refined pop sensibility in her time. Swift was the only artist/singer who could take the popular zeitgeist on the road. The first songs she released including the neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. But, her follow-up album Fearless in 2008 showcased an songwriter discovering her voice and a wider audience. Fearless was hugely popular not only in the US where it's Top Ten singles Love Story and Belong with Me helped it to record six platinum albums but also around the world. The album was particularly successful in Canada, Australia and the U.K. Swift's next album Speak Now, released almost two years after the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. It propelled Swift to the heights of fame. The three albums that followed (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012 1989 2014, and Reputation 2017. her success only grew. That was an obvious indicator that Swift had entered a new pop world where she fit in. She stayed in the forefront of pop even when she dropped her own style on her sister albums folklore & Evermore in the year 2020.
